About Tamang Heritage 8 days
Our Montagnes Au Nepal offers this trek in Tamang country, near Langtang. This itinerary allows for the authentic and easy contact with locals. A unique, off-the-beaten-track tour in a region in need of support after the earthquake.

Depart early in the morning from the agency with your guide. A long day on a bus from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi. About a 9-hour drive on a dirt road.

We begin the trek with a slightly steep climb through a pine forest and crossing a pass. Then an easy path to Gatlang, a large Tamang village where some remains of the traditionalcarved wooden houses remain. +850m: -110m

Descend the valley via the Thambuchet hydroelectric power station and climb back up to Tatopani. Views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal. Since the earthquake, the hot springs have dried up, and locals are hoping for a resurgence. +850m: -490m

Early morning climb to Nagathali, where the views is superb. 3hours of wlking. +600m. In the afternoon, or the next morning, an excursion is possible and without difficulty to the superb viewpoint of Tatuche +3hours round trip.

Descent to Thuman through a forest inhabited by Langur nmonkeys. -900m

Descent to Bhote Koshi. Cross the river ( Timur, a very fragrant pepper, is grown there) and climb to Briddhim from lingling. Accomodation with locals is unfortunately no longer possible, but the villagers are always welcoming. +550: -650m
